Preventative Medicine
Our goal at Festival Veterinary Clinic is not only to treat your pets when they are sick, but to prevent illness as well. Preventative care includes vaccinations, routine blood work, deworming, and discussing medications and supplements to maintain wellness.
There are many different diseases that our pets are exposed to on a daily basis. The risk of contracting some of these diseases can be reduced or eliminated with vaccinations, flea and tick products and heartworm preventatives.
Annual lab work includes screening of dogs for heartworm disease, Lyme and Ehrlichia (tick borne diseases) and screening of at risk cats for feline leukemia and FIV. Wellness blood profiles that include vital information about liver, kidney, and immune system function are also advised. More extensive evaluation is recommended for senior pets including a thyroid profile.
Because of the many parasites our pets are exposed to and their zoonotic potential (spread to human population), annual check of your pet’s stool samples is recommended.
Puppies and kittens require deworming as a part of standard care. Monthly products such as heartworm preventative and Advantage multi for cats also provide monthly deworming.
Please schedule an appointment so that we can customize a health plan for your pet.
